Surf Photography

I'm starting this Fresh Friday with some photos of the Sebastian Inlet Pro 2006. I managed to take 400 photos of the final day of the contest so I have an endless supply of photos to talk about!

B.K.William has a new article published on We Are Water's Guest Writer link. It is titled, Passing The Torch. Sometime's you need to select who gets that magical flame that you want to share!

We Are Water is looking to publish more articles next week, but I'm starting to paint my house today so may run out of time. I've scheduled people to help me paint the house so Murphy's law says the surf will be good at that moment I can't go!

We did get an excellent day of surfing this past Tuesday the 24th. We had strong East/Southeast winds for a few days prior which picked the surf up. On Tuesday, the winds finally turned offshore and cleaned it up pretty good.

I had a very good friend, Mike, visit from Denver. He hasn't surfed in two years and he was stoked to be surfing again. The surf was SE ground swell around 3-6 feet and the winds were stiff offshore so the surf was pretty good. Mike wasn't really surfing all that great until he caught his Wave-of-the-Lifetime!

It was towards the end of the session and I was tired from surfing wave after wave and paddling back out when I see this nice wave forming on the outside. Mike was in position and this was the type of wave you wouldn't normally drop in on unless a friend was on the inside hootin' and hollerin' for you to go! Which I was and Mike didn't disappoint.

He dropped in and I thought for sure the wave was going to swallow him up and spit him up. The wave tubed perfectly for Mike as he initially stood up in a crouching tiger position and got slotted on the take-off. He made it out, stood up in a prone position with the biggest shit-eatin' grin I ever saw. Then he tucked again and got shacked a second time on the same wave. All while I was sitting in front of it and witnessing the whole ride. It was a special moment! A wave that only lasted for a few seconds will last a lifetime in our collective memories.
