Welcome to "Swell Memories" by Dermot Whelehan

Dermot grew up in South Florida in the mid-60's and has been surfing steadily ever since. Dermot is a retired military officer who was lucky enough to be stationed at some of the premier locations in the U.S. He has surfed most of the East Coast, spent approximately 10 years in San Diego and has surfed in Ireland, France and Fiji.

Dermot's topics cover all aspects of surfing. With over 40 years of surfing experience Dermot has many Swell Memories!

He started surfing in Florida when surfing was just becoming
popular and has returned to his roots. In his own words Dermot states he has never been a good surfer just someone who never lost the stoke...just as thrilled to paddle out at the age of 53 as he was when he was 11.

Dermot lives in Brevard County, Florida.
